University Baptist Church has enjoyed a long tradition of excellence in music. Sacred music is an integral and vital part of our worship services. The sanctuary choir, organist, soloists and instrumentalists all strive to underscore the Word of God and assist in drawing the congregation closer to the Lord’s presence.
Christianity has been a singing faith. At UBC we lift our voices to express that faith and follow the biblical commands that instruct us to "sing unto the Lord," (Psalm 95) and to “Come into His presence with singing” (Psalm 100:2). The Apostle Paul in two of his letters instructs us to "sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs." Within our choirs we desire to:
Our sanctuary choir rehearses each Wednesday evening at 7:15 p.m. The music for worship is selected based on the liturgical calendar. Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter are important seasons of worship.
The church offers preschool and elementary children’s choir that practices in the fall and spring semesters on each Wednesday evening following the Wednesday night dinner. The choir integrates music with Christian education and periodically contributes to worship services.
